CPA supports Agriculture Minister Bridget McKenzie’s view, that levy payers must get a return on their investment and that R and D needs to be focused on producer issues. Minister McKenzie says we are a big beef producing nation of 55,000 producers across the country who have very different productions systems employed by Northern and Southern cattle producers and so we get the complexity. The Red Meat MoU is still silent on what to do about Peak Industry Councils and the advocacy role. “I am frustrated, like producers are, that we haven’t got the advocacy piece right and we must move on improving peak councils and advocacy roles”. “We are looking at reform on these issues. So watch this space!”
Minister McKenzie was interviewed on ABC this week by Warwick Long listen to what she says about the red meat restructure.
